The objective of this research is to know the effect of Casting (Vermicomposting) derived from earthwarm and N, P, K fertilizer to increase the available and uptake of P and growth and yield of soybean planted in an Ultisol. This research was pot experiments which were conducted in the Greenhouse, and soil analyzes were carried out in the soil Chemistry, Biology and Fertility Laboratory of Soil Science Departemen, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, scheduled from May 2004 up to September 2004. The experiment was arraged using completely randomized design (CRD) factorial consisted of two factors, which were Casting at the rates of 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 ton ha-1 and N, P, K fertilizer at 0 and 1 times to general recommendation of crop growth. The results showed that, the application of Casting has significant effect on available and uptake of P, shoot and seed dry weight. Mean while N, P, K fertilizer has a positive effect on the P availability and seed dry weight. Interaction of Casting and N, P, K fertilizer have also a positive effect on P availability and pH soil significantly, futhermore the addition of Casting at 15 ton ha-1 has also significantly to increase the soybean yield with a value of 5.87 g or 113.45% compared to the control.
